Thin dill seedlings2/13/2024 ![]() You can take entire stalks if you have a lot of plants. Either pinch off the leaves or cut them off with scissors. You can begin harvesting as soon as the plant has four to five leaves, but make sure to harvest older leaves first. For dill grown outdoors in containers or indoors, use a liquid fertilizer at one-half the label-recommended strength every 4 to 6 weeks. Alternatively, you can use a soil that is relatively rich, adding extra compost for a nutrient boost. It’s acceptable to lightly apply a balanced 5-10-5 fertilizer once in late spring use it at the rate of three ounces pern ten feet of row. ![]() When grown in soil that’s rich in organic matter, dill doesn’t require frequent fertilizing. If dill is allowed to seed and the soil isn’t disturbed too much, more dill plants will likely appear next spring. For an extended harvest, don’t allow flowers to grow on the plants. To ensure a season-long fresh supply of dill, continue sowing seeds every few weeks. After another 10 to 14 days, thin the plants to about 12 to 18 inches apart (if they aren’t already spaced enough).ĭuring the growing season, water the plants liberally, ensuring that they don’t dry out excessively. Young dill plants should appear in the soil after 10 to 14 days. Sow dill seeds about ¼ inch deep and 18 inches apart. Ensure the seedlings receive adequate light. Transplant any excess seedlings to other areas of your garden or share them with fellow gardeners. Does square foot gardening work for growing dill Yes Dill is an excellent candidate for square foot gardening. The best way to do this is to snip the seedling at the soil level so as not to disturb the remaining plants. Since dill can be blown over easily, make sure to shelter dill from strong winds. Thin the dill seedlings once they have reached a height of a few inches, leaving the strongest ones spaced about 12 to 18 inches apart. If your plants look to be spaced too closely together, thin the weakest seedlings so there are 12-18 inches between plants. In your garden, plant dill next to cabbage or onions, but keep it away from carrots. The pH of the soil should be between slightly acidic and neutral. To ensure a constant supply in the fall, plant dill every couple of weeks until midsummer.Ĭhoose a planting site that has well-draining soil that’s rich in organic matter. Seedlings should appear in 10 to 14 days. For the best germination results, soil temperature should be between 60 and 70☏. Dill puts down a taproot, meaning that like carrots, it doesn’t transplant well. If you have grown dill plant, then its seeds should be sown directly into the garden after the threat of frost has passed in the spring. If you are planning to grow herbs indoors, you should study & research about the planting and growing information for homegrown herbs. For a permanent patch of dill, allow some of the plants to flower and seed each year so you’ll have plenty of early dill to begin the season. If you’re intending to plant dill for pickling, plant every few weeks into midsummer to ensure a constant supply for when the harvest begins. With its feathery green leaves, dill is an annual self-seeding plant that’s easy to grow and is part of the carrot family (Apiaceae). Koala babys2/13/2024 ![]() Pap is a specialised form of faeces, or droppings, which forms an important part of the young Koala’s diet, allowing it to make the transition from milk to eucalyptus leaves, rather like a human baby is fed “mushy” food when it starts to eat solids. From about 22 to 30 weeks, it begins to feed upon a substance called “pap”, which the mother produces in addition to milk. At about 22 weeks, its eyes open and it begins to peep out of the pouch. The young Koala only drinks its mother’s milk for the first six to seven months and remains in the pouch for that time, slowly growing and developing eyes, ears and fur. P.Schouten, From ‘Koalas, the little Australians we’d all hate to lose’ Bill Phillips AGPS The mother contracts her strong sphincter muscle at the pouch opening to prevent the baby from falling out. This prevents the joey from being dislodged from its food source. Once inside the safety of the pouch, the joey attaches itself to one of the two teats, which swells to fill its mouth. The joey makes its way from the birth canal to the pouch completely unaided, relying on its already well-developed senses of smell and touch, strong forelimbs and claws and innate sense of direction. ![]() The newborn is tiny (at roughly 2 centimetres long and less than 1 gram in weight), and looks like a pink jellybean totally hairless, blind, with no ears. Once conceived, it is only 35 days before the birth of the baby Koala, called a “joey”. In the average female’s 12-year life span, she may produce five or six offspring over her lifetime. However, not all females in a wild population will breed each year some produce offspring only every two or three years, depending on factors such as age and habitat quality. This period is the busiest for Koala carers, as suburban Koalas are on the move, crossing paths with cars and dogs, and higher rates of stress-induced sickness.įemales generally start breeding at about three or four years of age, usually producing one offspring each year. This is also when the young from the previous year leave their mothers and disperse. This is a time of increased amovement for Koalas, with sound levels increasing as males bellow more frequently. The Nature Babies series, with its quiet tone-no bright colours, sidebars, or busy pages-is more subtle in its presentation than other books of its kind, and all its volumes are recommended. The breeding season for Koalas is approximately August to February. All too soon it grows to full size, when it establishes an independent life that mirrors the life of one of its parents. Young readers will learn about the life of the baby animal-its mother, habitat, eating and sleeping habits, and the dangers it faces. Further information about the species can be found in a “Did You Know?” section at the back of the book, which is followed by a glossary, an index, and brief biographies of the author and photographer. Each book begins with a brief one-page introduction, followed by pages of splendid colour photographs (large ones on the right-hand pages and smaller ones on the left)-all taken in the wild-illustrating in detail the content of the text. A koala and a sloth now join the baby animals featured in earlier volumes of this acclaimed series, which include a bear, a fox, a penguin, an elephant, a seal, an owl, a ground squirrel, and a lion. David Friend and Roger Powell toured the United States, putting on demos and talking to musicians and dealers. “… the key to promoting the 2600 was to show musicians and retailers what could be done with the instrument. These new, weird and strange instruments necessitated Bob Moog and other company representatives travelling straight through the USA to gain popularity for their instruments among the general public). (In the early 1970s, music shops often had very little interest in synthesizers. The instrument’s target group was “schools” and “synthesizer beginners” … Pearlman believed that especially schools with small or medium-sized music departments would be the main market for the ARP 2600. It was intended to be an “educational instrument” – hence the clear layout, the graphics on the front panel and the self-sufficient concept (with loudspeakers and spring reverb). The ARP 2600 was presented for the first time in the autumn of 1970 as the successor to the huge studio-system 2500. ![]() These considerations are all the more important since KORG has just released the “new” ARP Odyssey, and the “new” ARP 2600 … and since the booming Eurorack modular market has reached a remarkable peak. Christianity lame definition2/12/2024 Job remarked that, even in his prosperous state, “feet to the lame one I was.” ( Job 29:15) Jesus and his disciples had compassion for the sick and lame, performing many cures of such persons.- Matt. The Scriptures inculcate consideration for the lame. It was only by God’s purpose and permission that Jacob was allowed to contend with the angel, so as to provide proof of Jacob’s great appreciation of the need of God’s blessing. 12:2-4) Jacob thereafter had a reminder that, although he had “contended with God and with men so that at last prevailed,” as the angel said, he did not in reality defeat a powerful angel of God. During the contest, the angel touched the socket of Jacob’s thigh joint, throwing it out of place. He prevailed in detaining the angel until the angel gave him a blessing. When Jacob was about ninety-seven years old, he had the experience of grappling all night with a materialized angel of God. 1:8, 13) The apostle evidently applies this requirement in a spiritual way to Christians, entreating them: “Present your bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with your power of reason.”- Rom. Can I take pleasure in it at your hand?” ( Mal. Will he find pleasure in you, or will he receive you kindly?. : ‘It is nothing bad.’ Bring it near, please, to your governor. 22:19, 20) This law was violated by the apostate Israelites, for which God reproved them, saying: “When you present a lame animal.
